Activate iPod Sound Check

Because songs are recorded at different volumes and with different technologies, the volume that they play back at on the iPod can be different. This can be annoying – especially if you’ve just turned up the volume to hear a quiet song and the next one half deafens you.

Sound Check is built into iPod and scans your music library to bring all songs to roughly an equal volume.

This feature is pretty cool, and is enable with just a few clicks.

Here’s how to use it with iPod. (Learn how to use Sound Check with iTunes)

Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: Less than 1 minute

Here's How:

    Turn on iPod
The first step to doing anything, of course!

    Choose Settings
In the main iPod menu, go to the “Settings” menu.

    Choose Sound Check.
About halfway down the menu, you’ll find the “Sound Check” option. Highlight it and then click the iPod’s center button. Sound Check should now read “on” and you’re ready to rock (at reasonable volumes, of course).
